Erica Westenberg
EITI Policy Officer, Natural Resource Governance Institute (formerly, Revenue Watch Institute-Natural Resource Charter)
As an Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Policy Officer, Erica leads Natural Resource Governance Institute's (NRGI) multifaceted engagement with the EITI, which includes technical assistance, research, capacity building and advocacy aimed at helping stakeholders in resource-rich countries to use the EITI as a tool for improving extractive sector governance. Prior to joining NRGI, Erica practiced as an attorney for over five years in the Energy and Infrastructure Projects group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP, where she managed numerous complex transactions in the areas of energy, natural resources, infrastructure and public-private partnerships. Her pro bono projects included work on parliamentary oversight of extractive industry contracts, as well as engagement through the International Senior Lawyers Project on governance reforms in Africa. Erica holds degrees from Harvard College, the London School of Economics and Harvard Law School, where she received a Chayes International Public Service Fellowship to work on legal and judicial reform in Europe and Central Asia at the World Bank.
